pedro the cat’s latest award

Most of my adoring fans already know my BFC, the ginger genius of One Spoiled Cat.  Sammy nominated me for a really special award last week, the Best Moment Award.  I am really honored to have been nominated, and Grizzly and I have been working on my acceptance speech all week.  (Really I’ve been working on the speech, and The Grizz has a been working on being my pillow.  It’s fantastic that he has such useful skills.). Unfortunately, I’m not quite ready to post my acceptance just yet.  But I wanted to make sure you all know that the acceptance and my nominations are coming soon, so anyone who would like to have this huge honor bestowed on them should send gifts.  Preferably bonito flakes. stay tuned for that exciting event later this week. And thanks and a big head bump to Sammy!!!

the unvarnished truth about Grizzly

Dust bunny remoraLast week my loyal fans seemed to think I hadn’t given Grizzly enough time when I wrote my post about him not being a suitable candidate for the position of Personal Assistant to Pedro the Cat. I may have sugar-coated things so as not to hurt Mr. Grizzly’s sensitive feelings. So here it is – the plain, honest truth about the two real reasons why I feel Grizzly will never be able to fill those massive shoes:

1. Our human is a horrible housekeeper.

2. Our dust bunnies are albino.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, I’m sure you all understand my decision.  Soon I’ll be unveiling the creative marketing plan I’ve developed for Grizzly that I think will really showcase his strengths and help him find an adoptive family expeditiously, so my human can get back to concentrating on grooming ME.

versatile blogger & kreativ blogger award acceptance & nominations

I was so excited when my friends Dianda and Sammy nominated me for awards earlier this month. I’ve been spending all of my free time consulting with Mirror Cat (he’s shy, but you can see the tip of his ear behind me in the photo below) about how I should compose my acceptance and who I should pass the awards on to.  We finally decided to consolidate posts, and we’ve let Kitty help in choosing some of the nominations.  I hope you enjoy them.

The rules for both of these awards are that the nominee must:  A) thank the blogger than nominated them in a post, B) list 7 things about themselves that haven’t been written in their blog, and C) must pass on the nominations to deserving blogs.  Here we go:

Thank you to Dianda, who nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award. Dianda’s blog is Cats & Co.  It’s full of interesting feline info, photos of cute kitties, and stories of her cats, Suki & Hiro.

And thank you to Sammy, my favorite polydactyl from One Spoiled Cat.  I don’t think Sammy is spoiled at all – he’s a great cat and deserves everything he receives – but you can read his blog and decide for yourselves.

Here are a few things you don’t know about me:

–  Sirens and alarms make me howl.  Kind of like a dog, but much cuter and more refined.

–  I think Calpurnia from Three Cat Yard has the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen.

–  Before my human adopted me, I had a family that I lived with for 4 years.

–  I love to eat papayas.

–  I like to be brushed and petted against the grain.

–  I come running when my human claps her hands and calls me.

–  I don’t like wasabi.

Here’s the best part – my nominations!

Nominations for the Versatile Blogger Award:

Nominations for the Kreativ Blogger Award:

another award, oh my!

I was honored and thrilled to find out that  was awarding me with another award so soon after the Versatile Blogger Award! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Isobel!

Conditions of the One Lovely Blog Award are:

1. Thank the person (cat) who gave you the award and link back to them in your post.

2. Share 7 things about yourself.

3. Pass the Award on to 15 recently discovered blogs and let them know about it.

Here are 7 things you never knew about Pedro the Cat:

1. I have extensive experience with gravity.  Did you know most curtain rods aren’t designed to hold 16 lbs of cat?
2. Sometimes I sit on my roommate cat, Kitty, to hold her down while I give her a really good full-body bath.
3. I enjoy watching the front-load washer.
4. I’m jealous of my friend Sammy’s thumbs. If I had opposable thumbs I would rule the world. You can see Sammy’s at
5. My absolute favorite treat of all time is Tillamook Medium Cheddar cheese. It has to be Tillamook, and it has to be medium.
6. The top of my noggin is stained a little where the bath tub spout drips on me when I’m drinking out of the tub.
7. I’m going to be the most famous cat in the history of the universe.

Like a lot of my cat friends who have to sneak computer time when the humans aren’t looking, I’m having a hard time coming up with 15 bloggers to nominate for the One Lovely Blog Award.  So I apologize for not really having 15 more, and I apologize if I’m nominating anyone who already has been honored with the award… Here are my selections:  (Jimmie is lovely, especially his belly)    (Sprocket is lovely, and the photos are all lovely)  (Calpurnia is the loveliest creature ever to walk the earth)  (lovely cats who seem to share my grooming obsession)  (JhaJha has lovely eyes)  (I’m nominating them for all 9 of the remaining awards because the photos of Usyaka are artistic and stunningly beautiful.)

Thank you Isobel, and congrats to all!

my first award!

My friend Jimmie Chew from  nominated me for my very first award. I’m so excited that people (and cats) are recognizing my talent! Thanks so much, Jimmie.

Conditions of the Versatile Blogger Award are:

1.  Thank the person (cat) who gave you the award and link back to them in your post.

2.  Share 7 things about yourself.

3.  Pass the Award on to 15 recently discovered blogs and let them know about it

7 things you never knew about Pedro the Cat:

1. I snore. And sometimes I talk in my sleep, too.
 2. I have a bit of OCD. I tend to “overgroom” when I’m stressed. (I still can’t believe there is such a thing as “overgrooming”! And therin lies the problem, I guess.)
3. I’ll dance on my hind feet for treats. For the right treats, that is.
4. I play with tennis balls.
5. I love to cuddle.
6. I can open the fridge and freezer, but I have trouble closing them
 7. I can count. If there are less than 20 pieces of food in my dish, I start to panic and harrass my human until she refills my dish.

(Drumroll please…)  In no particular order, my nominations are:  (Calpurnia is hot!)

Thanks again, Jimmie!
